Surf Life Saving Queensland prior to the beginning of the 2018/19 season refurbished the Sunshine Coast Surf Life Saving Communication Centre, SurfCom. The work included new walls, paint, carpet and furniture improving the overall usability and look of the centre. The 18 dedicated volunteer operators continue to have access to state of the art technology forming a central point of contact and vital links between Life Saving & Lifeguard Services, Support Services, and other Emergency Services throughout Queensland.

SurfCom is recognised as the tasking authority for all Life Saving Services including patrol members, 4WD’s, IRB’s, wave runner’s, Duty Officers and helicopters.

The main functions of SurfCom are best summarised as:

-    To LIAISE between the above services;

-    To TASK life saving resources ensuring effective supervision & surveillance;

-    To CO-ORDINATE lifesaving resources as and when required.

If you haven’t yet visited SurfCom or you have a group wanting to see the centre in action you are welcome to contact the office to organise a time.

To book a time, please contact the Sunshine Coast Office on 07 5414 1600.
